Alister and Sajouri depart from Sojourn. Following an unfortunate run-in with the Tarrasque as it roams the countryside, the duo winds up in Havernook where they discover that everyone in town can only speak by scatting. A local magician, Meric Sylverion, is responsible. Alister and Sajouri are escorted to Meric's tower by Havernook's guard captain to deal with him.
